Mack Alive has a tutoring and leadership program after school to help youth within the community with homework and activities. The program also exposes our young people to experiences through mentoring, that can lead them to become productive and caring human beings. Listed below are some of the advantages our youth get from this program:
Mack Alive's Buddies in Business Program was founded over 25 years ago and is designed to help our youth within the community with employment readiness and entrepreneurial training. This program is an intensive employment and entrepreneurship program for Detroit area youth, ages 14-24. BIB introduces youth to entrepreneurship, financial literacy, soft skills and business etiquettes. Listed below is some of the content within the program.
Partnered with Wayne State University, Mack Alive hosts the Harris Literacy Program at its location. The Harris Literacy Program strives to leave the greatest possible imprint on the adult illiteracy issue while helping Detroit residents make educational inroads to self-sufficiency.
Mack Alive Sports mission is to engineer a state of perfect health that unleashes all your potentials through the use of sports and art. With the therapeutic effect that comes with aerobic exercises and the light we let into your life through the use of beautiful arts, we ensure that you really live rather than just exist.
"Maleness to Manhood" is a mentorship program for male youth ages 13-18. Two sessions of 16 weeks are held each year.
R.E.A.L. is a four week summer enrichment program for youth ages 6-12 featuring:
Veterans Alive is a program designed to provide resources such as; employment leads, housing information, and free services that are available to our veterans in need.
Mack Alive's gardening program helps children discover where their food comes from and form the foundation for making healthier food choices. Gardens can nurture life skills in youth and adults, including responsibility, problem solving, and critical thinking.
This project is a partnership with the Mobile Art Workshops at Wayne State University. The Mobile Arts project introduces students to abstract art and basic 2-D design fundamentals. Participants create a collaborative artwork using reclaimed materials, paint and everyday objects.
'RISE UP: PROCLAIM JUSTICE' YOUTH GATHERING' is a group that worked very hard during the summer of 2016 assisting with beautification efforts implemented by Mack Alive. The outcome was magnificent and consisted of; painting curbs, lot cleanups, and lawn assistance for local seniors. They also created art, drawings and murals; played sports and offered messages of inspiration for all who entered the center.
Mack Alive's longtime partner, Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network's mission is to reduce the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Working with DWIHN, Mack Alive also strives daily to make Detroit a drug-free community.
Mack Alive's Parade and Rally is known to be the largest community event on Detroit's eastside. The parade features local high schools, dance teams, activities for children, health screenings and wellness education; food, and haircuts at no cost. The parade and rally also included employment information, live entertainment and much more. This annual event occurs the third Saturday in August.
